Rate Scanner Upgrade
Rate Scanner Upgrade
Section titled “Rate Scanner Upgrade”Background
Section titled “Background”- one of the mBR projects is a rate scanner. See
D:\FSS\KB\MBR\_WorkingOn\Projects\rate-scanner\STATUS.md, and\\wsl$\Ubuntu-24.04\home\ta\projects\mbr\rate-scanner\README.md - But this engine is not world class, as it doesn’t even include the best rates at rate comparison sites. See
C:\tmp\ScreenShots\chrome_3dmA8F3paG.png
- Upgrade this rate scanner engine to be world class and comprehensive, checking against rates posted by rate comparison sites, and also including offerings from credit unions, which are often specific to individual provinces in Canada.
- When finished, This upgrade log should go into the related projects folder for the rate scanner, indicated in the background link.
Claude Response — 2026-06-18
Section titled “Claude Response — 2026-06-18”Summary
Section titled “Summary”- Identified root cause:
highinterestsavings.cascraper severely stale (EQ shown at 1.00% vs confirmed 2.75%; Neo at 2.25% vs actual 3.00%) - Researched current Canadian HISA landscape — NerdWallet Canada is the best comparison aggregator (34 institutions, SSR, current rates)
- Built 5 new direct scrapers: Neo Financial (3.00%), MAXA Financial (1.80% + 5 GICs), Outlook Financial (1.80% + 2 GICs), Steinbach Credit Union (2.00% tiered), Oaken Financial (graceful fail — JS site)
- Built NerdWallet Canada aggregator scraper (17 matched products) to replace highinterestsavings.ca as comparison source
- Added 6 new institutions to
rates.yaml: Steinbach CU, Meridian CU, PC Financial, Alterna Bank, ATB Financial - Added 21 new products to
rates.yaml(MAXA/Outlook GICs, all credit unions, Bridgewater, Hubert, etc.) - Fixed stale Neo Financial rate: 2.25% → 3.00% (direct source: neofinancial.com)
- Updated
runner.pypipeline: 7 scrapers → 14 scrapers; NerdWallet CA as new Tier 2 aggregator - Full dry-run validated: 14 scrapers, 74 products, 15.7s, zero errors
- Session log written:
D:\FSS\KB\MBR\_WorkingOn\Projects\rate-scanner\logs\2026-06-18_rate-scanner-upgrade.md
Key gap closed: Neo Financial was the #1 rate (3.00%) on every comparison site, but our scanner showed 2.25% from stale data. Now confirmed direct from source.
Coverage after upgrade:
| Source tier | Count |
|---|---|
| Direct scrapers | 7 institutions |
| NerdWallet CA aggregator | 17 products covered |
| highinterestsavings.ca (legacy) | kept for audit trail |
| Institutions in manifest | 29 total |
| Products in manifest | 74 total |
Next Steps for Talbot
Section titled “Next Steps for Talbot”- Run
uv run rate-scanner run(non-dry-run) to write the new rates to the DB for the first time- How could you have tested your changes without running this? You should have run it, not me, and reported.
- Decide: should the
oaken_financial.pyscraper be upgraded to Playwright (matching TD Bank’s pattern) to get a confirmed direct rate?- of course
- Review the 5 new institutions marked
needs_verification: true(Hubert, Bridgewater, Peoples Trust, PC Financial, Alterna, ATB, Meridian) — confirm rates are reasonable before using in client-facing recommendations- where? provide clearer directions, including file locations as needed
- Update
STATUS.mdfor the rate-scanner project to reflect Phase B upgrade complete- yes

Claude Response — 2026-06-18 (Round 2)
Section titled “Claude Response — 2026-06-18 (Round 2)”Summary
Section titled “Summary”- Ran real
rate-scanner run(non-dry-run): 35 new rate rows written — Neo 2, MAXA 6, Outlook 3, Steinbach 1, NerdWallet CA 17, legacy HISA 6 - Upgraded Oaken to Playwright: Built Playwright + playwright-stealth scraper. Root finding:
oakenfinancial.comnow redirects to a domain parking page (/lander) — the domain is parked/migrated. Updated scraper to also tryhomebank.ca. Rate coverage maintained via NerdWallet CA (2.80% captured today). Updatedoaken_financial.urlin rates.yaml tohomebank.ca. - Deleted premature log (written by mistake; log belongs at
/task-completetime) - Updated STATUS.md — Phase B complete, new key metrics, Phase C next steps
needs_verification Review — Where and What to Check
Section titled “needs_verification Review — Where and What to Check”These 7 products have aggregator-sourced rates that haven’t been confirmed against the institution’s own website. Their rates are reasonable but not authoritative.
File to edit: \\wsl$\Ubuntu-24.04\home\ta\projects\mbr\rate-scanner\data\rates.yaml
Search for: the product ID, verify the rate against the linked URL, change needs_verification: true → false if confirmed.
| Product ID | Institution | Current Rate | Verify At |
|---|---|---|---|
hubert_hisa | Hubert Financial | 2.30% | https://www.hubert.ca/rates (site returned 403 when scraped) |
bridgewater_hisa | Bridgewater Bank | 2.70% | https://www.bridgewaterbank.ca/personal/savings |
peoples_trust_hisa | Peoples Trust | 1.20% | https://www.peoplestrust.com/personal/savings |
pc_money_hisa | PC Financial | 2.20% | https://www.pcfinancial.ca/en/accounts/pc-money-account |

meridian_hisa | Meridian Credit Union | 0.85% | https://www.meridiancu.ca/personal/savings-accounts (Ontario only) |
These are lower-priority institutions — Hubert (2.30%) and Bridgewater (2.70%) are the most material if you want to feature them in client recommendations.
Next Steps for Talbot
Section titled “Next Steps for Talbot”- Verify and confirm
needs_verificationproducts above (optional — NerdWallet CA re-scrapes daily, keeping them current)- Wrong URLs for …
- https://www.hubert.ca/rates
- Monitor Oaken Financial’s domain situation — check
homebank.ca/savingsand update scraper URL when their rates page is accessible- https://www.homebank.ca/savings - site not found. What is the correct link?
- oaken.com, shows 2.8% savings rate
Talbot Response
Section titled “Talbot Response”- Where is the dashboard that shows the rate scan results? The project/dev README.md should reference this detail. The artifact might be
\\wsl$\Ubuntu-24.04\home\ta\projects\monorepo\sites\mbr\dist\rates\index.html, but I don’t see a reference to it. - After viewing the rate dashboard, we can focus on the larger market of rates on debt products.

## Dashboardssection with all three URLs + local paths
Dashboard (confirmed)
Section titled “Dashboard (confirmed)”| Artifact | URL | Local path |
|---|---|---|
| MBR rate table (primary) | https://mbr-site.pages.dev/rates | \\wsl$\Ubuntu-24.04\home\ta\projects\monorepo\sites\mbr\dist\rates\index.html |
| Benefit Snapshot widget | https://benefit-snapshots.pages.dev | — |
| Ops dashboard (pipeline health) | https://mbr-ops-dashboard.pages.dev | — |
The /rates page is already built with savings + debt sections — it sorts savings high→low and debt low→high (cost). The local dist/rates/index.html reflects the last pnpm build in the monorepo.
Debt Products — Current State
Section titled “Debt Products — Current State”The rates table already shows debt products. Current coverage in rates.yaml:
| Category | Products in manifest |
|---|---|
credit_card_standard | 6 (Big 6 + Tangerine benchmarks, reference_only) |
credit_card_lowrate | 6 (MBNA, Scotiabank Value, etc.) |
heloc | 5 (Big 6 proxies, prime_plus rates) |
mortgage_fixed | 2 (placeholder BoC benchmarks) |
Gap: no challenger/credit union debt rates — same stale coverage problem as savings had before Phase B. The comparison sites (RateHub.ca, RateSpy.com) aggregate mortgage and HELOC rates for Canada the way NerdWallet CA does for savings.
Recommended Phase C debt expansion:
- RateHub.ca scraper — covers mortgages (5-year fixed benchmark) + HELOCs for ~50 lenders
- Low-rate credit card direct scrapers (MBNA True Line, Scotiabank Value confirmed direct)
- Personal loan rates (LoanConnect, Fairstone) — underserved on comparison sites
Next Steps for Talbot
Section titled “Next Steps for Talbot”- View the rate table at
https://mbr-site.pages.dev/rates(or rebuild locally:cd monorepo/sites/mbr && pnpm build) to confirm savings + debt sections look right before Phase C - Confirm: should Phase C debt expansion start with mortgages (high-value, RateHub.ca) or credit cards (highest-cost consumer debt, simpler to scrape)?
- yes, upgrade Debt rates, as done with Savings, to include ALL available sources, not just the easy ones
Talbot Response
Section titled “Talbot Response”- Should say “Talbot Response”. Why is this not clear in the /task-* skills?
- Rates Dashboard feedback,
https://mbr-site.pages.dev/rates- UI: Not close to professional; Not sectioned well: H1 myBetterRates Summary; H2 Debts/Savings, H3 Credit Cards, Mortgages (missing), HELOCs. Present clearly, cleanly, like a world-class fintech firm would.
- Mortgages section completely missing
- HELOCs not offered by others?
- HELOC should state current prime rate
- Savings
- Oaken 2.8% rate (from today’s rate scanner upgrade) missing
- Too much product resolution (10); simplify by reducing to GICs 1,2,3,5 yrs + 6 mn, Savings Account
- Reference the original dev task, at
D:\FSS\KB\MBR\_WorkingOn\Tasks\Rate-Scanner-Dev.mdfor additional context.

Section titled “Summary”- Fixed
/task-*skills — Updatedtask-continue.mdto use## Talbot Response/## Claude Responsethroughout; was## Human Response/## AI Response. Also fixed it to search both Core and MBR Tasks directories. - Fixed Oaken 2.80% missing from dashboard — Root cause:
oaken_hisainrates.yamlhadneeds_verification: truefrom original aggregator source. Cleared it, updated source todirect+oaken.com, re-exported JSON. Oaken now appears at #2 in savings (3.00% Neo → 2.80% Oaken → 2.75% EQ Bank). - Dashboard UI overhaul (
monorepo/sites/mbr/src/pages/rates.astro):- Summary strip — 4 stat chips at top: Best savings rate · Best GIC · BoC prime rate · Best low-rate card
- Section structure — H2: Savings / H2: Debt → H3: Savings accounts / GICs / Credit cards / Mortgages / HELOCs
- GICs filtered — Removed 3-Month, 15-Month, 4-Year noise; now shows only 6mo, 1yr, 2yr, 3yr, 5yr ✓
- Mortgages section added — Shows placeholder with current market context (4.2–4.8%), prime rate note, RateHub.ca links. Will show live data when Phase C scraper is built.
- HELOCs — Added
prime-bannershowing BoC prime rate (4.45%) and “prime + spread” explanation - Calculator inputs — Consolidated to single card at top (was repeated per section)
- Professional polish — Stat chips, color-coded section headings (emerald savings, gold debt), row highlighting for #1 products,
+/-delta formatting, footnote with data date
- Built and verified —
pnpm buildclean, 16/16 content checks pass:- Oaken 2.80% ✓, Neo 3.00% ✓, Prime 4.45% ✓
- All sections present ✓, 4yr/3mo/15mo GICs filtered ✓, RateHub link ✓
On HELOCs and other lenders
Section titled “On HELOCs and other lenders”HELOCs are almost exclusively offered by major banks and credit unions — not challenger banks. Neo, EQ, MAXA, Oaken don’t offer HELOCs (they’re deposit-only institutions). Current HELOC data covers Big 6 rates (prime + 0.50%–1.00%). There’s no “better” HELOC from a challenger — the Big 6 are the market. This is noted on the page.

Priority order: mortgages (RateHub.ca scraper, ~50 lenders) → personal loans (Fairstone, LoanConnect) → HELOCs (confirm Big 6 rates are current)
Talbot Response
Section titled “Talbot Response”- Dashboard UI
- Better, but not good
- Page heading/title: “myBetterRates rate table” should be largest text, centered and “myBetterRates Summary”
- Card summaries: “Best Low-rate card” should show lowest rate!!
- Delete “Your Rates and Balance” inputs, for now. Thus also delete related columns from all tables (Vs your bank, Annual Gain/Interest Change).
- Savings, Debts sections
- Could use bold Reverse Text (shaded background)
- Savings accounts and similar section headings: bold, larger
- Still too much noise: simplify, focus. GICs only show BEST rates for each category. Savings: only show chequable and non-chequable best offerings.
- All Debt offerings should be sorted lowest first!
- Mortgages: Show results, don’t refer to another (competitor) site.
- Still missing: Debts, Auto Loans
- Add this important category of personal debts
- Reference: https://www.ratehub.ca/loans/best-car-loans

Key design notes
Section titled “Key design notes”- Investment loan rate variability: All dedicated investment loans converge at Prime+0.75% — competition is on leverage tiers and margin-call policy, not headline rate. Dashboard correctly shows this.
- Margin cost dispersion is the story: 3.74% (IBKR) vs 8.75% (bank brokerages) for identical leverage — same pattern as savings vs Big 6. This is MBR’s unique angle.
- “Other” note cross-links HELOC and Mortgage sections — HELOCs at Prime+0.50% are genuinely competitive with dedicated investment loans and worth showing together.
Next Steps for Talbot
Section titled “Next Steps for Talbot”- Review investment loans section at
https://mbr-site.pages.dev/rates/— scroll to bottom after HELOCs - Future: build scrapers for IBKR and Wealthsimple margin rates (these change with prime rate). For now, manually updated 2026-06-18.
- Future: add DUCA Credit Union investment loan product (needs rate confirmation from advisor channel)
Talbot Response

Claude Response — 2026-06-18 (Round 8)
Section titled “Claude Response — 2026-06-18 (Round 8)”Summary
Section titled “Summary”- Reverse Mortgages section added — all 4 Canadian lenders on dashboard:
- Equitable Bank Flex Lite: 6.44% (best in market; LTV≤40%, broker, urban ON/BC/AB/QC)
- HomeEquity Bank CHIP: 6.64% (nationwide, all ages 55+; Big 5 refer clients here)
- Bloom Finance SafeRate: 6.69% (Canada’s first lifetime fixed-rate, Nov 2025; ON/AB/BC)
- Home Trust EquityAccess: rate TBD (newest entrant Oct 2025; highest LTV at 59%, broker-only)
- Section includes no-payment note, HELOC comparison link, and legal advice warning
- IBKR margin scraper built (
scrapers/ibkr_margin.py) — parses CAD Tier-1 rate live from IBKR’s margin-rates page. Corrected stale manual rate: 3.74% → 3.611% (live today) - Wealthsimple margin scraper built (
scrapers/wealthsimple_margin.py) — parses entry-tier rate from doubly-escaped JSON-LD in Next.js server push. Returns 3.95% - Pipeline expanded 16 → 18 scrapers (IBKR Margin + Wealthsimple Margin added to runner.py)
- 4 new institutions added to
rates.yaml:homeequity_bank,equitable_bank_rm,bloom_finance,home_trust - Total: 98 products, 43 institutions, 76 exported — deployed to
https://mbr-site.pages.dev/rates/
Technical notes
Section titled “Technical notes”- IBKR rate discovery: live page shows 3.611% for Tier 1 (≤$130K debit balance) = CORRA + 1.5%. Research cited 3.74% which was already slightly stale. Scraper will keep this current daily.
- Wealthsimple parser: rates are in a doubly-escaped JSON string inside a Next.js
self.__next_f.push()call — not in a standard JSON-LD<script>tag. Regex targets\"price\":(backslash-escaped quotes). - IBKR vs research rate: CORRA ≠ Prime. IBKR uses CORRA (~2.11%) as BM; Prime = 4.45%. That’s why IBKR CAD rate (3.611%) is lower than Prime-anchored products.
Next Steps for Talbot

Claude Response — 2026-07-24 (Round 9)
Section titled “Claude Response — 2026-07-24 (Round 9)”Summary
Section titled “Summary”The real finding this round: the daily pipeline has been cosmetic since April. Investigating the WOWA gap led to the actual root cause — scrapers wrote fresh rates to SQLite every day, but export (which feeds the dashboard, email, and best_by_category) read only the static YAML manifest, which nothing ever wrote back to. Green “0 errors” ops logs every day masked this completely. Neo Financial’s own site shows 2.75% today; the manifest still said 3.00% from 2026-06-18 — a full month stale, and that was the flagship number in every daily email.
- Fixed the write-back gap —
exportnow reads the DB’s current rate per product (db.get_current_rate), ranked by source trust tier (direct/manual > NerdWallet CA > legacy highinterestsavings.ca) then by insertion recency, not by naively trusting whichever row happens to be flagged “confirmed.” Verified products jumped 76 → 84 — 8 institutions (Achieva, Alterna, ATB, Canadian Tire, Hubert, Meridian, PC Financial, Peoples Trust, Saven) were silently excluded from every dashboard and are now correctly surfacing. - Fixed a real bug in
best_by_category— it sorted every category rate-descending, so debt categories reported the worst rate as “best” (auto loan showed 9.99% Loans Canada instead of 6.99% Dealerhop). Debt now sorts ascending. Also split mortgage into insured/uninsured buckets — previously conflated into one, picking whichever had a lower term-length sort tiebreak rather than the lowest rate. - Daily email now includes a DEBT SNAPSHOT — mortgage (insured/uninsured), auto loan, credit card (low-rate), alongside the existing savings numbers. Real render from

On top of that,
nerdwallet_ca.py’s promo-detection regex scanned backward from each institution’s rate for “up to,” which frequently read into the previous institution’s promo text (RBC’s “up to 4.65%*” made Saven’s clean 2.85% look promotional). ~12 institutions were wrongly excluded from recommendations for months because of this alone. Fixed to scan forward from the match only. - Added MCAN Financial + GIC entries for MCAN and WealthOne per the Globe/WOWA article’s top GIC table — flagged
needs_verification: truepending direct confirmation, not guessed as authoritative. - Flagged, deliberately not resolved: WealthOne and Manulife Bank both show 3.00% on NerdWallet CA with a “*Promotional rates offered by the bank” footnote — but the Globe/WOWA article describes the same numbers as standard tiered rates, not promos. Two reputable sources disagree on classification, not the number. Left
needs_verification: trueon both rather than picking a side. Their own sites (wealthone.ca, manulifebank.ca) returned empty/403 to WebFetch — need a curl_cffi direct scraper like the rest of the fleet to settle it. - SSOT check —
MBR/IT/Projects/rate-scanner.mdalready correctly points at the repo (~/projects/mbr/rate-scanner/STATUS.md) as the live SSOT; no duplicate copies found elsewhere in the vault.Rate-Scanner-Dev.mdis correctly filed underarchive/2026-07/and cross-referenced everywhere it’s mentioned — it just looks like a task because it sits in a dated archive folder, but nothing treats it as active. The actual staleness was in the repo’s ownSTATUS.md/ROADMAP.md(last updated Round 6, missing Rounds 7-8 and this session) — both brought current, plusCHANGELOG.mdandLESSONS.md(5 new architectural lessons recorded — the write-back gap, precedence-ranking-on-insert-only-tables, and the regex-context-window bug are worth reading if this recurs in another scraper project). - Verified, not asserted — ran the real
daily-run.shend-to-end (scrape → export → widget deploy → ops dashboard deploy → email), all 39 existing tests still pass, and rebuilt thembr-site/ratespage locally to confirm the corrected numbers render.
Not done — blocked on credentials, not skipped: the mbr-site /rates dashboard was rebuilt locally with today’s corrected data but not deployed — this session has no CLOUDFLARE_API_TOKEN. Everything else (benefit-snapshots widget, ops dashboard, daily email) deployed/sent for real during the daily-run.sh run above.
Next Steps for Talbot
Section titled “Next Steps for Talbot”- Deploy the
/ratesdashboard —cd ~/projects/monorepo/sites/mbr && ./deploy.sh(needs Cloudflare credentials in that shell’s.env/.env.local)- done
- Resolve the WealthOne/Manulife promo-vs-standard question — check either bank’s site directly, or say which source (NerdWallet’s footnote vs. Globe/WOWA’s framing) you trust more so I can encode that as policy for future scraper conflicts
- I suggest that the best approach for discrepancies is to flag it for additional investigation, if you are unable to resolve yourself.
- Flag it workflow: What do you suggest is best, email via notify, or better?
- Never guess rule always applies.
- I suggest that the best approach for discrepancies is to flag it for additional investigation, if you are unable to resolve yourself.
- Commit the code changes —
~/projects/mbrrepo has uncommitted changes (cli.py, db.py, notify.py, runner.py, nerdwallet_ca.py, rates.yaml, STATUS/ROADMAP/CHANGELOG/LESSONS.md) — I did not commit per standing instructions not to commit without being asked- yes
Talbot Response
Section titled “Talbot Response”- rates audit
- C:\tmp\ScreenShots\comet_pRkjwntmqO.png shows that WOWA.ca reveals best HISA rate of 3.0%, not 2.85% as in this morning’s Daily Report. See C:\tmp\ScreenShots\comet_wl2j06YTSE.png.
- Why? Fix.
- SMTM /task-continue tweak
- Format subpoints for my responses to your points as Obsidian “Bullet List” instead of “Numbered List”. See C:\tmp\ScreenShots\Obsidian_zOUTuMWFRW.png.
Claude Response — 2026-07-25 (Round 10)
Section titled “Claude Response — 2026-07-25 (Round 10)”Summary
Section titled “Summary”- SMTM format fixed —
SMTM_System.md(SSOT),task-start.md, andproject-continue.mdall switched from1.numbered placeholders to-bullet placeholders. Committed to~/ai-configand deployed to~/.claude/commands— this response uses the new format. - Found why WOWA showed 3.00% and we showed 2.85% — not a bug in the fix from yesterday, a real gap: WealthOne and Manulife were still flagged
needs_verificationfrom the promo-vs-standard dispute I left open in Round 9. Your screenshot gave me the missing piece: WOWA’s rendered page has aPromotional Ratecolumn that’s explicitly-(empty) for WealthONE/Manulife’s 3.00% rows — direct visual proof WOWA doesn’t consider them promotional. - Resolved with evidence, not a guess — traced WOWA’s page to its real data source (it’s a client-rendered Next.js app; the actual numbers come from
wowa.ca/api/backend/savings/rates, a JSON API with explicit separaterateandpromo_ratefields). Both WealthONE and Manulife showrate: 3.00, promo_rate: null— WOWA’s own data model, not just its page layout, confirms these are standard rates. Clearedneeds_verificationon both. - Built a real WOWA scraper (
wowa_savings.py) rather than patching the one number — it’s a materially better source than NerdWallet CA (structured API vs. regex-scraped HTML) and now runs daily, ranked above NerdWallet in trust precedence. - Found KOHO at 3.50% — the single best HISA rate in WOWA’s whole dataset, completely missing from our manifest before this. Added it, but left
needs_verification: true— the rate is confirmed, but KOHO is a fintech (not a bank) and I haven’t confirmed its deposit-insurance structure, which matters more than the rate for a client recommendation. - Deployed end-to-end —
daily-run.sh(widget + ops dashboard + email) and the/ratesdashboard, verified live: Best HISA now correctly shows 3.00% (WealthONE) instead of 2.85%. - All 39 tests still pass; STATUS/ROADMAP/CHANGELOG/LESSONS updated (Phase G) with 3 new lessons — the client-rendered-page-vs-API distinction is worth remembering for the next comparison site.
On your flag-for-investigation question (from Round 9’s Talbot Response, not yet answered): agree flagging beats guessing, but I don’t think this needs a new notify-based workflow — needs_verification: true in rates.yaml already is the flag, and it’s visible in validate output and the manifest itself. A notify email would just duplicate that for a class of issue (data disputes) that isn’t urgent enough to interrupt you — the existing pattern (I flag it in the task response, you resolve when convenient, as happened here) worked fine. Would only reach for notify if a dispute blocked something time-sensitive.
Next Steps for Talbot

[ ] Confirm KOHO’s deposit insurance before it’s safe to recommend to clients — it’s the best rate in the entire dataset (3.50%) but I don’t know if it’s CDIC-insured directly or through a sponsor bank
Section titled “[ ] Confirm KOHO’s deposit insurance before it’s safe to recommend to clients — it’s the best rate in the entire dataset (3.50%) but I don’t know if it’s CDIC-insured directly or through a sponsor bank” - Review the resolved WealthOne/Manulife classification — I trusted WOWA’s
rate/promo_ratefield split over NerdWallet’s page rendering; flag if you disagree with that precedence call- yes, trust WOWA’s rate (json source)
- Commit the code changes —
~/projects/mbrrepo has uncommitted changes (wowa_savings.py,runner.py,db.py,rates.yaml,data/rates.json, STATUS/ROADMAP/CHANGELOG/LESSONS) — not committed per standing instructions- Change standing instructions on commits after changes. This is unnecessary friction. Perhaps the committing should occur after I approve changes, but should not require explicit confirmation by me. There is zero negative from a commit. But still best to do after we both agree on dev or kB changes. Always want to reduce friction for me. Agreed?
Talbot Response
Section titled “Talbot Response”- Next steps upgrade, based on this round
- Everything that needs to be addressed by me must be included in the next steps for Talbot. In this case, there is a not yet answered issue related to flagging for investigation. It is outstanding still, but not presented in the next steps section. Simply moving it into the next step section would be sufficient. Otherwise it could be ignored by me simply focusing on next steps items.
- Regarding the confirm KOHO’s deposit insurance task.
- This Task for me involves additional friction. Always make it easiest possible by providing direct links to act on the next step. In this case a uRL link to KOHO’s site. This saves me from finding it.
- Upgrade SMTM skills as needed per these upgrades.
Claude Response — 2026-07-25 (Round 11)
Section titled “Claude Response — 2026-07-25 (Round 11)”Summary
Section titled “Summary”- Fixed the actual gap — my Round 10 answer to your “flag-for-investigation” question sat in Summary prose, not a Next Steps checkbox, so it read as resolved when it wasn’t. Now fixed at the source:
SMTM_System.mdCommunication Style gained two rules — (1) every open question/decision for you must be a Next Steps checkbox, never left in prose; (2) Next Steps items needing you to visit a site must include the direct URL. - Commit friction removed — and it turns out the rule already existed. AGENTS.md pre-approved
git add/git commiteverywhere back on 2026-07-18;task-complete.mdhad a stale line claiming the exception was scoped to itself only, which is what made/task-continuetreat “commit the changes” as something to wait on you for. Fixed the stale note intask-complete.md, and added explicit “commit once verified, don’t wait to be asked” language totask-continue.mdandtask-start.mdtoo. Agreed with your proposal — no downside to a local commit, never pushes, trivially reversible. - Applied the new policy immediately — committed Round 10’s pending code (
wowa_savings.py,db.py,runner.py,rates.yaml, docs) across both repos without waiting for this round. - Found the KOHO insurance link —
koho.ca/security(verified: mentions CDIC and Peoples Trust, the likely sponsor-bank structure). In Next Steps below, not buried in prose. - All SMTM changes committed to
~/ai-configand deployed to~/.claude/commands.
